A CAN FD (Controller Area Network with Flexible Data-Rate) analyser is a tool for listening, recording, decoding, analysing and diagnosing the data transmitted on a CAN FD bus in real time, such as the GCAN USBCAN II FD.

The following are the general steps for using the CAN FD analyser:

1. Preparation

Device Connection:
Connect the CAN FD analyser to the computer via the appropriate interface.
Ensure that the analyser can be properly recognised by the computer and install the necessary drivers and software.

Software Installation and Configuration:
Install the software that comes with the analyser or third party software that supports the CANFD protocol (e.g. GCANTOOLS, etc.).
Open the software and make the necessary initial settings, such as selecting the correct device port and baud rate.

2.Parameter Configuration

CAN FD parameter setting:
Configure the relevant parameters of CAN FD in the software, including the arbitration domain baud rate, data domain baud rate, data frame length and so on.
These parameters should match the network configuration being analysed to ensure that the data can be correctly captured and parsed.

Trigger Settings:
Set trigger conditions as needed, such as data frames with specific IDs, specific data content or time conditions, etc.
Trigger settings help to quickly locate the part of interest in a large amount of data.

3.Data Capture and Analysis

Start Capture:
After the configuration is complete, start the data capture function and start listening to the data on the CAN FD bus.
The captured data will be displayed in the software interface in real time, and users can analyse it in real time or save it for subsequent analysis as needed.

Data Analysis:
Use the functions provided by the software to analyse the data, such as viewing the details of the data frames, analysing the signal waveforms, calculating statistical parameters and so on.
The analysis results can help users diagnose network problems, optimise network performance or conduct other related research.

4. Precautions

Safety:
When using the CAN FD analyser, make sure that no damage will be caused to the network or equipment.
Observe the relevant safety regulations and operating procedures.

Accuracy:
Ensure that the analyser is calibrated and configured accurately to avoid analysis errors caused by equipment problems.

Compatibility:
Check the compatibility of the analyser with the network being analysed to ensure that data can be captured and parsed correctly.

Expertise:
For complex network problems, professional network knowledge and experience may be required for effective analysis and diagnosis.
